For the next creative task please use design and technology to make an animal, bird, minibeast or plant that you find at the British seaside. Your model can be made with junk materials, construction materials e.g lego, playdough, natural items or any other ideas you may have. Please encourage your child to draw their design first and think about the materials they will need. They can also talk about their designs and models and identify what they like about them and any improvements they could make and what changes they would make if they were going to make the model again.
ELG 16 Exploring and using media and materials - Children safely use and explore a variety of materials, tools and techniques, experimenting with colour, design, texture, form and function.
Exceeding - Children develop their own ideas through selecting and using materials and working on processes that interest them. Through their explorations they find out and make decisions about how media and materials can be combined and changed.
ELG 17 Being imaginative - Children use what they have learnt about media and materials in original ways, thinking about uses and purposes. They represent their own ideas, thoughts and feelings through design and technology.
Exceeding - Children talk about the ideas and processes which have led them to make designs, images or products. They can talk about features of their own work.
Once I have some photos of models I am hoping next week we can do the last part of ELG 17 - Exceeding, by getting the children to talk about each others models. The photos will be on here but not named.
ELG 17 - Exceeding - Children can talk about features of their own and others work, recognising the differences between them and the strengths of others.
