Good morning everyone,
I hope you all had a lovely half term and a great weekend. The weather has been amazing so I hope you have all been able to get lots of fresh air. Here is your work for the first part of the week. The creative task will continue when I put the next lot of work up on Thursday so you've got the whole week to design and create your 'wartime garden'.
The links to some of the work are at the bottom of this page- something has changed with the formatting this week-sorry guys!
Take care all of you.

In your KS2 English SATs question book- please attempt the reading ‘Mixed Practice’ Story and Poem sections. These can be found on pages 16-19
Spellings- I have attached the 40 spellings from the last 2 Year 6 SATs tests. Have a good look at these words. These would have been similar to the words you would have had in your SATs test. Pick out between 10-20 of the more challenging words to learn this week. Write out in well punctuated sentences.

Science- In science this term we will be looking at materials and how they change. The first lesson is about dissolving. What is dissolving and do all solids dissolve in water? I would like you to test a number of different solids from your home/garden and carefully and safely test to see which one’s dissolve. You could choose things like: sugar, sand, coffee, chocolate, tea, flour, soil, rice- but see what you can find at home.
Think about how you are going to keep each experiment fair. Which factors should you try to keep the same?
You could experiment with cold and hot water. (If you use hot water ask an adult to help you) You could also test to see if stirring has an impact on how quickly things dissolve.
Record your findings in a table or in bullet point form and note down 3 things you found out from doing your experiments.

Design and make a ‘wartime garden’. During WW2 people were encouraged to grow their own fruit and vegetables in their gardens as supplies were short/scarce. Many households also had Anderson Shelters in their gardens. What else might they have had in their gardens at this time?
Be creative and design and make a model of a wartime garden.
*This will be ongoing- so you have all week and next weekend to complete it. |

Please continue with any outstanding project work if you haven’t yet finished. |

Quick challenge- these are the answers but what are the questions? You have to write the questions with these answers.
Continue working through the maths textbook you were given- carrying on from where you left off last time. Work carefully and thoughtfully and remember to check your answers.
Bitesize- Year 5 Maths June 1st lesson. Multiplying unit and non-unit fractions by an integer. An integer is just a whole number (not a fraction or a decimal).
