Monday 8th June

Good morning everyone,

Please remember that Mrs Last is adding French work to her folder for you to be having a look at too.

Here is the work for the next few days.

Take care everyone.

Mr Williams

PS- I'll take some photos at school on Monday and put them on here for Thursday so that you can see how we've made a few changes for when school re-opens for Year 6 on the 15th June.

SPaG Online- I've uploaded another of the tests for you to attempt. This is not an old SATs test but just an example one- so you might find some of the questions a little tricky. Remember to read the questions carefully and check your answers as you go and then again at the end. Good luck.

KS2 SATs Question book p42-45. This includes work on Inverted Commas- which builds on from last week's work.

Science- Dissolving continued.

Find out what the words soluble and insoluble mean. From your work last week write down 4 substances that are soluble and 4 that are insoluble.

When a solid substance dissolves in a liquid a new liquid is formed- find out what scientists call this new liquid. It begins with an 's'.

Photography- someone in Year 6 sent me some amazing photographs that they had taken last week. They were absolutely fantastic. When you are out and about this week- in your garden or on a walk- take a photograph of something special. Think about the angle of your photograph, how close you can get to the object you are photographing. You could send me your best ones. This task will continue for the week so you can experiment before sending your best ones.

Bitesize English- June 8th Using direct and indirect speech. This should follow on from the work you did last week on 'speech marks'.

Spellings- I have attached the 40 spellings from the last 2 Year 6 SATs tests. Have a good look at these words and make sure you know what they mean. These will be similar to the words you will have in your SATs test next year.  Pick out between 10-20 of the more challenging words to learn this week. Write them out in well punctuated sentences.

Numeracy

Quick fire maths:

Write out your x4 table, double it and write out your x8 table- double that and write out your 16 times table.

Use this information to calculate:

1. 63 x 4

2. 386 x 8

3. 5293 x 8

Harder ones (some of you know how to do long multiplication):

4. 72 x 44

5. 247 x 88

Continue working through the maths textbook you were given- carrying on from where you left off last time. Work carefully and thoughtfully and remember to check your answers.
