Pupil Premium and National Tutoring Programme

Pupil Premium and the National Tutoring Programme

Each school receives a Pupil Premium grant based on the number of eligible pupils on roll.

This grant is additional funding designed to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils. Disadvantaged children include children from low-income families who were eligible for free school meals or had been looked after continuously for more than six months.

Schools also receive an amount as part of the national tutoring programme.  Last year, a number of our disadvantaged children benefitted from this and we plan to do the same this year. We employ our own tutor to support pupils on this programme.

Using Pupil Premium Funding

Schools can spend this premium on evidence-based approaches to support pupils. This can include:

  • support the quality of teaching, such as staff professional development
  • provide targeted academic support, such as tutoring
  • deal with non-academic barriers to success in school, such as attendance, behaviour and social and emotional support
