September transition days for Class 2, 3 and 4
Year 1, Year 3, Year 5 : Thursday 3rd September
Year 2, Year 4, Year 6 : Friday 4th September
We are aware that many children will not have been to school for up to 6 months and will need to quickly adjust to the new systems and procedures we will need to have in place for September. The children may have many questions and no doubt some anxieties about returning. Our priority will be to settle them into routines, build relationships and listen to their concerns, worries and any exciting news.
With this in mind, the return to full-time schooling in September will be phased over two days to allow children to transition into their new routines and timetable as well as give us more time to spend with each child.
We are therefore asking that only Year 1, Year 3 and Year 5 come to school on Thursday 3rd September and only Year 2, Year 4 and Year 6 come to school on Friday 4th September.
This gives each child one full day in a small class with their year group.
Everyone is then expected to return on Monday 7th September.
These arrangements do not apply to the Reception Class as they have separate transition arrangements.
The class structure will remain the same:
Class 1 : Mrs Coulson (Reception)
Class 2 : Mrs Welsman (Year 1 and Year 2)
Class 3 : Mrs Hardison Taylor (Year 3 and Year 4)
Class 4 : Mr Williams (Year 5 and Year 6)
Transition arrangements (pre-September)
Children currently in Reception, Year 2 and Year 4 will be moving into a class with a new teacher in September. Normally, they would spend some time with their new teacher this term but obviously this has not been possible
All our class teachers have been creative and thoughtfully put together a range of ways of passing on information to their new class and parents including video conferencing or uploading short welcome videos and fact sheets.
From today, children going into Year 3 and Year 5 can view a video message from their new teacher. These can be found on the Class Pages section of our school website.
