This week we are moving on to learn about how seaside holidays were different in the past.
Start by talking with your child about seaside holidays you have been on as a family, have you been abroad for a seaside holiday? Look at photos from family holidays to other countries if you have.
If you have photos of family holidays when you were a child these would also be great to look at and talk about. Were they in the UK or abroad?
The presentation has some photos of the seaside now and in Victorian times. You can find lots of old photos on the internet too.
The focus is about similarities and differences.
The ELGs you will be working on are: ELG 13: People and Communities and ELG 14: The World
ELG 13 - Children talk about past and present events in their own lives and in the lives of family members.
Exceeding - Children know the difference between past and present events in their own lives and some reasons why people’s lives were different in the past.
ELG 14 - Children know about similarities and differences in relation to places and objects. They talk about the features of their own immediate environment and how environments might vary from one to another.
Exceeding - Children know that the environment and living things are influenced by human activity. They can describe some actions which people in their own community do that help to maintain the area they live in.
