Week 2 Monday 30th

Good morning all,

 

Firstly, the answer to last week's riddle was... SWIMS (a 5 letter word that reads the same upside down).

 

Hope you are all ok. Have you tried the Joe Wicks workout on youtube yet? If you haven't, then give it a go. I am aching so much after doing it on Friday!

 

The work set for Monday 30th March is as follows:

 

Year 6

 

Subject What to do: Suggested time
Literacy

English SATs Question book- Complete section 2 'Word Types' pages 22-30.

 

Spelling- Choose 10 different words from the spelling lists and write each one out in a well punctuated sentence.

Numeracy

Arithmetic- Choose 2 different 6 digit numbers- find the total and the difference between the numbers you chose by adding or subtracting. Repeat this with different sets of 6 digit numbers.

 

Multiplication- create a series go multiplication questions for yourself, including: 3 and 4 digits x 1 digit, 3 and 4 digits x 2 digits. If you want a challenge multiply decimals e.g 2.7 x 1.9 and 25.7 x 6.3

Topic Geography- Mountains can be formed in different ways e.g fold mountains, volcanoes or dome mountains. Find out what the difference is and how each was formed, include diagrams/drawings if possible. 45 mins
Creative Create an invention that would help you clean the teeth of a very dangerous animal- explain how it would work and include diagrams/drawings.

Project Complete the first section of your projective you haven't already done so. Read it back and check it all makes sense. Plan your second section using the original plan- try to think about layout, font size, sub-headings etc. Again- try to include a variety of the following: writing, pictures, images from magazines/internet, tables of information, headings/subheadings. 45 mins

Write a made up diary entry called 'The best day ever'. Think about all the different and exciting things you would do and see, the places/countries you would visit, the food you would eat etc, if you could do exactly what you wanted for one day.

 

Choose your next 10 weekly spellings from the lists provided- write them down and begin to learn them.

Continue with working through your Maths textbook you were given- ask an adult to help you mark together.
