Week 2 Thursday 2nd April

Hi everyone,

 

I hope you are all ok and being good for your parents. It was great to receive some emails from you yesterday- I hope you got my replies.

 

It's Thursday, so it's riddle time. Here goes: What has a bottom at its top?

 

The work set for Thursday 2nd April is as follows:

 

Year 6

 

Subject What to do: Suggested time
Literacy

Write a made up diary entry called 'The best day ever'. Think about all the different and exciting things you would do and see, the places/countries you would visit, the food you would eat etc, if you could do exactly what you wanted for one day.

 

Spellings/ handwriting-copy out your spellings in your very best joined writing (remember ascenders and descenders). Ask somebody in your family to test you on these.

Numeracy

Number, Ratio and Algebra book- Adding and Subtracting section 2 pages 19-20.

 

Multiplication- continue with practising your multiplication. 3 digits x 2 digits and decimals with money e.g £25.67 x 8, £7.83 x 12

Topic Science- The heart: How can we look after our heart? How can it be damaged if we are not careful? Create a poster that explains this. Think about diet, exercise, smoking, lifestyle. 45 mins
Creative If you haven't already made a stay safe/ stay home/ support the NHS rainbow, then now's the time to get 'arty'.  Once you've made your rainbow don't forget to display them in your windows at home. Feel free to email me pictures of these next Wednesday.

Project Continue with the next section/ chapter of your project. Again, plan the section first. Think of different parts of this section before completing it. Try to present it in an interesting/ decorative way.  45 mins

Literacy

Please make yourself a revision poster or glossary about 'Different Word Types'. You will need to include information about: Nouns, Verbs, Adjectives, Adverbs, Prepositions, Pronouns and Determiners. Yo should include definitions and examples. Think about presentation- you could keep this and use this it in the future to help you.

Continue with working through your Maths textbook you were given- ask an adult to help you mark together.

 

Practise your multiplication. You could try 3 digits x 1 digit numbers; multiplying decimals e.g 4.79 x 6 (or some of you have learnt long multiplication e.g 73 x 27 and 284 x 37- please practise these if you know how to do these)
