Week 1 Thursday 26th

 

Good morning all,

 

Firstly, a little teaser to get you all thinking, here goes:

What 5 letter word, when written in capitals, reads the same upside down? (Answer on Monday).

 

The work set for Thursday 26th March is as follows:

Literacy

SATs buster Punctuation book- choose a section you haven't yet completed and spend 30 mins carefully working through this section.

Handwriting/Spelling- Copy out the spellings you chose on Monday in your best handwriting. Ask someone to test you on the spelling of these words.

Numeracy

Squared and cubed number challenge:Work out your squared numbers to 400 and write them down. Work out your cubed numbers to 1000 and write them down (go further if you want).

Number, Ratio and Algebra book-  Squared and Cubed Numbers pages 17 and 18. Ask an adult to help you mark together.

Topic Science: The Human Heart- Create a 'Did you know?' factfile about the human heart- with interesting or little known information about the heart or sketch and label a diagram of a human heart. 40 mins
Creative Circuit training- design your own series of exercises that can be done in the home or garden. Encourage an adult or family member to do the circuit of exercises with you. Note down in your book which exercises you did (you could repeat this daily).

Project Use your plan from earlier in the week to complete the first section/ chapter of your project. Try to include some of the following: writing, pictures, images from magazines/internet, tables of information, headings/subheadings 45 mins

Hasn't the weather been great this week? Task:  Write an acrostic poem using the word SUNSHINE (where each line of the poem starts with the letter to spell out the word SUNSHINE). Try to include all of the word types from your previous activity e.g determiner, adjective, noun, verb, adverb and.... at least one preposition. Decorate your poem with a picture if you want.
